Dr. Stanley Tippins Sr. PhD. Over the years, Dr. Stanley Tippins served as a police officer, narcotics agent, robbery/homicide investigations and white collar crimes investigator in Alabama.  Also, Tippins teaches Criminal Justice courses on the undergraduate and graduate level at universities in Alabama.  Tippins serves on the Board of Directors for the Institute for Criminal Justice Education (ICJE), a nonprofit organization supporting law enforcement, by developing and disseminating educational material relating to criminal investigation, management of law enforcement resources and effective use of technology in the criminal justice arena.  Currently, Dr. Tippins serves as Instructional Director on the collegiate level.  Several years before Professor Remy Presas passed, he asked Harold Evans and Master Bruce Chiu to work with me here in Alabama.  Master Chiu began working with me in GM Presas’ Modern Arnis and through GM Master Bruce Chiu I hold the Lakan Isa rank. Professor Stanley B. Tippins PhD, has trained in several disciplines with several outstanding Martial Arts and Artists including Filipino Martial Arts (FMA).  In 2003, I began training with Filipino Combat Systems (FCS Kali) under Lakon Guro Harold Evans and under Tuhon Ray Dionaldo.  I currently hold the rank Guro/Manong, and Alabama State representative with FCS Kali. Having trained with Tuhon Ray Dionaldo and Harold Evans in Modern Arnis it was an easy transition to FCS Kali.  In the early years, GM Harold Evans encouraged me to join Tuhon Ray Dionaldo’s Filipino Combat Systems (FCS Kali).  Additionally, with GM Harold Evans I trained in Guro W. Hock Holchheim’s Pacific Archipelago Combatives (Force Necessary) and in 2004, I earned the Black Belt rank.   Under the late Sifu Joel Rodriguez, I trained in Grand Master Leung Shum’s Northern Eagle Claw Kung Fu or (Ying Jow Pai) and Wu Tai Chi where I received a Black Sash.  Later, Professor Tippins founded Creative Defense Systems (CDS).  In his ongoing effort to promote FMA throughout Alabama, CDS has partnered with several martial arts schools throughout Alabama and Mississippi to provide quality FMA training.  Currently, CDS has thirteen affiliate locations.     Professor Tippins served on the Board of Directors with the United Southern Masters Alliance and was inducted into the American Martial Arts Alliance Who’s Who Hall of Fame in 2016.   He continues to train with his students and all of his surviving martial arts instructors.  Dr. Tippins is a committed lifelong learner of martial arts and considers himself a student of martial arts and FMA.
